3 days...

Do you see my little baby ticker over on the side? It says three days... three... and still no baby. You would think I could have a baby early by now, but... three days and still no baby.

Hang in there, Amy! I understand COMPLETELY! The end is a bit troublesome...my Ella was 1 day over her due date! Prayed for you! Can't wait to "meet" your new precious baby!

Blessings,
Amy

Oh and I see a lot of Charlotte Mason stuff in your sidebar...I forgot that you followed CM's thoughts and ideas...I'm changing over to it completely! I LOVE it! We are reading some of those VERY books you have on your list there...I also LOVE all those sites you have linked...my favorite is Charlotte Mason Help...I'm following her ideas for now as they were a little easier to jump into than Ambleside's right away!

I would love to hear any of your thoughts or wisdom about all of it!
:)

Thanks!

Amy,
We mostly use Ambleside, with just a few tweaks here and there to suit our needs. My advice would be just to let your children learn at their pace... for example, though most CMers recommend waiting to do written narrations until about age 10, my 7yo wants more and more to do. I have given her a notebook, and I never make her write in it, but if she chooses to, she will write her narrations in it. Sometimes she would just rather write than talk... she has written narrations of a few sentences, and she has also done full pages.

I keep loads of empty notebooks around and allow my children to take one and use it for whatever they want. One child has begun a bird notebook, one has begun a story notebook (writing their own stories), two have made notebooks of books they read, one is a drawing notebook, one keeps a notebook of anything interesting they learn (and that one gets filled in almost daily).

It is such a wonderful, peaceful way to learn and is really very fruitful. Sometimes we read and I think, they will not remember this in a week, no way. Then a month later I will overhear my 7 and 5 yo discussing the topic I was sure they would forget! And they usually remember better than I do! I would not change anything about our homeschool.

Enjoy your CM adventure, and let me know if I can help you in any way!

Thank you, Amy! Great wisdom!!! I am reminding myself that this is the "gentle art" of learning and that one of the purposes is to instill the love of learning...so thank you for the reminder not to rush or cram stuff in!!

Blessings!
