A brisk walk...

It has been so cold lately
Though we want to be outdoors those times have been few for as soon as we step out we hear the inevitable "I'm cold" from someone.
We did manage to make it out one day recently. We took a picnic and went to a waterfall. The cold was quite overwhelming, but the beauty of our surroundings, to witness God's marvelous artwork, caused us to forget our frozen skin. The twins ran all over, Layla and Josiah collected sticks and stared in awe at the waterfall, and Ian worked on making a fire to warm us by.

" The Lord is my sheperd, I shall not be in want

He makes me lie down in green pastures

He leads me beside quiet waters,

He restores my soul

He guides me in paths of righteousness
for His name's sake."

Loving our time out, but so glad to be back in. To snuggle by the fire, to drink coffee and cocoa, to warm our chilled bones.

Another day I am blessed, yet again, as I am everyday. It is truly amazing how children love to learn, to help, to watch, to drink everything in. As I prepare to make muffins for daddy for his early morning breakfast as he heads to work, two little darlings ask to help. They are so fascinated with the processes of things, their curious minds working non-stop. These things are so important to them, and so they remember every detail. As Josiah informed daddy, they bake at 400 degrees.

He made sure to tell the "special" ingredient...orange juice.

The joys and wonders of childhood.

Peace

"In stillness, we find our peace. Knowing
peace at home, we bring peace into the world."
-Katrina Kenison
Mitten Strings for God

I strive to create an environment at home that is filled with peace.
I lay with Ruth this morning, soft music playing, holding her as she fell asleep.
Once she was down, I lay with Hannah, listening to the music, reading, as she drifted off.
I cherish those simple moments.
As they slept, I prepared another lovely moment with the older children.
Candles, poetry, tea, homemade bread, blueberries and grapes for lunch.
The rest of the afternoon consisted of books, games, laughing and music.
A bit of light cleaning.
Preparing dinner with Layla and Josiah.
Enchiladas baking in the oven, we are relaxing, eagerly awaiting daddy's return home from his day at work. We will end our day with delicious food, hugs and kisses, snuggles, and read-alouds.
This is peace.
Have a beautiful night.

Learning, food and fun

The days are beginning to warm up a little bit. As it has been too cold to spend much time outdoors, we took our first opportunity and went to play!
I love to watch children play. There is so much joy, adventure and excitement in all that they do.

In His image

It always amazes me to see children learn. How beautiful to see that sparkle in their eye, to hear them exclaim, "I did it by myself!"

I am so very greatful to be able to stay home and see that sparkle in my children on a daily basis.

We love to create, and we are always looking for something new to attempt. I think it is pretty wonderful how people enjoy creating things, how as God Created us in His image, we, in His image, find satisfaction and enjoyment in creating. He created people, makes beautiful little children and trusts us with them because He created us in His image. He loves us, He knows we will love our children. He teaches us, He knows we will teach our children. He provides for us, He knows we will provide for our children.

And they will grow and learn.

And they will create

And we will teach them and guide them.

Yes, even with babies standing on us pulling our hair.

How beautiful is family, are children, is mothering, is Jesus?
